Happy New Year!!!! We are very excited to share with you all how we spent our new year’s day. Today’s wedding shoot evoked the feeling of not only a marriage, but also a celebration of marriage on the New Year’s Day. If we have to use only 2 words to describe this whole day, it would definitely be “Pure Romance”. At the same time, in our same-day-edit, we managed to incorporate almost everything we felt that day….. the fun, the beauty of romance, the elegance…..
We started our day with Berenice’s brother waiting with their dog at the lift lobby of their condo for us to arrive (very high security indeed); and almost immediately we could feel Reynold’s brotherly warmth and closeness towards their doggie, and this was further emphasized when we stepped into their house: something that we simply describe as “family warmth and love”. One of the Jiemei was our ex-couple, I nearly couldn’t remember her until she called out to me if I remember her, might be too busy to recognize her, apologies to you (if you are reading it 
)
Kaiyang’s brothers arrived earlier than when we did. Though we were not late, we can immediately related the friendliness of Kaiyang’s brothers and cracked a little joking while opening the gate for us “So… you are the hair-artist” *sweats*.
Gate-crashing was fun and different owing that the couple are a combination of a Doctor and a Dentist, and having that Kaiyang has to identify which plaster-cast of the teeth belonged to Berenice. He even did try to kiss the plasters… (eeewwwww!) As usual, lots of laughter broke out in the process.
When Kaiyang finally stepped into the room with Berenice eagerly waiting, we could not describe that eccentric romance-in-the-air feeling, their glazing eyes so glued to each other, which surely did made that difference in every shot we took and believe us, they look amazing.
This same feeling was revived again during the ROM in the Amara Sanctuary, Sentosa, and sanctuary glass pavilion. We can observe Kaiyang’s eager eyes, searching ‘frantically’ for his bride, and when his bride appeared from far, a gleam in his eyes, and smile on his face, as well as a reactively waving of his hands. And to add to all these emotions, the groom has to share his very-touching vow and it is really this moment, which we can feel this straight from within his heart.
With these moods still lingering within us, we took a walk as we now look at things differently. As we started our short out-door session in the Amara Sanctuary, Sentosa, we managed to fill the whole mood somewhat like a fairytale and this song from “twilight” that totally this wedding very much. With the intention to create a very romantic mood with this song and video, we coupled the magnificent surrounding of Amara sanctuary as well as the majestic clubhouse of Berenice’s place, but alas, time does not permit me to do more. The thought of portraying this feeling is so strong that we challenged ourselves to add in the ROM portion into the same day edit highlights knowing that time was never on our side. Shots on the wedding rings were always a challenge… it actually took us half an hour to stare blank into nothingness that we realized that this blank front we had right in front of us is ‘the’ essence to our shot. This perforated floral design wall totally allowed us to shoot at a special angle and notice the small gaps of the perforation that gives the effects in our shot. We are very satisfied with the end product of how this video of the wedding rings could be used to portray that fairy-tale and romancing effect of our edit.
Reception for the dinner soon started. The reception area was filled with a lot of warmth and fun not forgetting seeing a blessing tree, tooth like displays and toothbrush souvenirs (courtesy of the dentist bride) as well as many many portrays of the couple all over the area. Oh, did we mention how the couple met? They worked in the same clinic, one as a doctor on the first floor and the other is a dentist at 2nd floor, another example of couples so purely made for each other. Everyone is very surprised in a witty manner that toothbrushes are their souvenirs, so much that the reception is so filled with the couple’s warmth and personal touch to display their perfect balance of romance and fun and creativity in their DIYs to display their personalities and strength in theme concepts.
Dinner started on time. However, what really captured our hearts was that one touching picture and speech by Berenice’s sister. Berenice and her family grew up with one special song that her father really loved. And in memory of him, Berenice did a dance routine to that special song, as she wanted to bring this special moment to everyone in her family. It has always been a dream to perform with this song, and Berenice and Kaiyang did it with 2 thumbs up. Not forgetting Reynold, the younger brother that shouldered his dad’s role soon after he passed on. What really touched our hearts was that Reynold was wearing his dad’s shoes that very night in the dinner so as if that he is with them always… Such emotions, such closeness…
All good things still have to come to an end… the dinner ended, we took a pretty picture with the couple. And this marks the events in our dairy of a truly touching “fairy-tale” of Kaiyang and Berenice, “and they live happily ever after”.

It was a very dimly-lit afternoon at about 1430hrs… we finally reached Potong Pasir. We were greeted by a green painted door and as the couple unlocked the grill for us, we looked at each other (Adrian & Alvin) and gave a wide smile… Settling ourselves down, we started discussion on briefing on the save the date concept. And it was not long before we have to start doing what we do best – messing up the bride’s room for a 30min shoot. While we were messing up the room, we started chatting when the groom and he too found it eccentric that the first time he first visited his bride’s house, he too felt curious why her door is green and even her walls are green in colour, it was not long we all broke into laughter and that broke the ice for all of us….
The couple was very friendly and they totally liked our concept which we started off gearing up and preparing our first scene; that was when we heard some whining and squeaking. It’s her pet hammy(hamster)!!! It is ssoooooo cute….. And it was diagnosed with tumor and the vet had to burst it (OUCH!). As a result, it was under shock and it started moving radically all over the bed. That was our first scene for that concept -.-|||
Our concept was built around the true story where the groom proposed in sentosa with the help of his many friends…. He simply wants to melt her down in romance with that moment of the light sticks – So we scaled and incorporate it into a “Will you marry me?” luminous wordings on the sandy beach. And that’s what as call a very romantic effort that we were very proud of! *LOL*
The big day started where the brothers and sisters gathered in their respective places… and of course we were early .
Sharon welcomed us and soon we started our shooting on the green door and the sisters started preparations. We saw caramels, sheets of yoga posture, hair bands, the essentials of 酸甜苦辣, and something extremely eye-catching – the petai beans… which are indeed bitter enough…
We woke Stephan up…. And he started telling how he liked our videos and the concept shoot he had with us, and it’s not long we are doing a leg shot when he brother arrived…. Immediately there was this awkward moment…. His bro said “Wah bro what u doing? In your underwear and a guy kneeling in front of you…” Indeed it sounds too wrong. Finishing up all the stuffs, we loaded ourselves into the bridal car and the convey shot off into the morning light for Sharon’s house at a speed no one can imagine (we leave that to your imagination…)
Upon reaching the brides’ house, the sisters were at the stairways looking at the brothers gathering in. summoning them all in, we started with a few light “ice-breakers” after which we went ahead with the酸甜苦辣. What was unique was the ‘hot treatment’ where the jellos were filled with chilli padi and seeds. Gosh!!! Few of the brother actually finished 2 and another threw it over the balcony! We caught that on film!!! ‘sweet treatment’ was simply eating hot caramel. And what made us remember the most was what one sister actually said: “do you know how high class is this?” And that brought our high-class act to the next level, where we were the first to witness the act of “fire-in-the-hole”. It is simply to stuck one petai bean into the nostrils and blow with one’s might in vain to hit the target (watch our SDE).
After all these activities and dancing, the groom managed to reach the bride and it was almost over before we hit the park to do an outdoors shoot. At the park while gathering the brothers and sisters, we soon realized there were 10 brothers and 10 sisters…. That makes 10 fists 10 beauties or 十拳十妹 (十全十美)…
The last shot of the couple and the brothers and sisters, we took on where the groom was tossed into the air and the sisters and bride looked on…. No, the groom did not end up on the ground…
Dinner was very eventful it was not long before we finished all our chores and we wanted to call it a day. The couple was so sweet, so kind, so thoughtful and so nice that they took a photo with us.
